[art] doggy drawings

locked in an eternal struggle with my fursona’s design. the only way i’ll ever escape this mortal coil is when i create the Perfect Dog to be online
so maybe it’s time to go back to our traditions.. make something our deviantart forebears would be proud of
i can do it
i gave her wings!
i have made yet another ref sheet for my fursona, but haven’t shared it yet because i do have a problem with growing disillusioned with my sona design and making a new reference as an annual holiday. i never get to draw them much since i worry about not identifying with it before too long. i think the best way to really see if i’m happy with my sona’s design for (mostly) good is to draw her in various contexts first, to “field test” how she feels in my artstyle; then i'll share the ref once i establish that it feels right to draw and see her the way she is. one of the things i couldn’t help not adding eventually were wings, resulting in the above sketch - i’m never not longing for them.

inspired by Sing Good, one of the songs off Ninajirachi’s latest album, I Love My Computer. the album addresses various facets of a life spent with a computer, with Sing Good sharing what it was like to carve your own path as an aspiring young artist in the 2000s with experimentation and digital programs when a lot of education only recognized learning through more classic, rote methods. while she’s speaking as a musician, i really related to it from a visual arts perspective - i ricocheted off of art classes as a kid, i didn't see what i wanted from what i was being told to do. so, i made my own take on the concept featuring my fursona, and the program i got my start on (MS paint). pikachu is on the MSP canvas because it’s the earliest thing i recall trying to learn how to draw.
in this art i’m also playing around with my sona’s “cerberus” form, which can be depicted as an actual cerberus or simply with ephemeral extra heads. i’ve developed a liking for drawing her smaller sometimes in the last couple years as well if i don’t feel like committing to rendering lots of detail.
